High-yield exfoliation of MoS2 nanosheets by a novel spray technique and the importance of soaking and surfactants

Liquid-phase exfoliation of two-dimensional materials is very attractive for large-scale applications. Although used extensively, isolating MoS2 layers (<10) with high efficiency reported to be extremely difficult. Further, the importance soaking has not yet been studied and surfactants’ role in stabilizing nanosheets poorly understood (Grayfer et al., 2017) [1]. Herein, we report a novel approach exfoliate large quantities via high-pressure (HP) liquid-phase (LPE) deionized (DI) water. 4 7 were obtained from 60 days-soaked samples they found stable solvents periods up six months. Studies on effect three surfactants, namely sodium dodecyl benzenesulfonate (SDBS), cholate (SC) tetra-butyl ammonium bromide (TBAB), indicate that SDBS highly efficient better than other two surfactants. The estimated yield reaches 7.25%, nanosheet concentration 1.45 mg/ml, which one highest ever reported.
